Maquinna is a well-equipped 1969 Columbia 36, designed by the legendary William Crealock, with a proven offshore cruising history and an extensive list of upgrades completed between 2022 and 2026.

Having successfully sailed from Vancouver, Canada to the Caribbean, completing multiple offshore passages along the way, she is a genuine bluewater cruiser with the equipment, maintenance, and systems to continue cruising.

The Columbia 36 has long been respected for her moderate displacement, comfortable motion, balanced sailing characteristics, and offshore capability. With her swept-back fin keel, spade rudder, and easily driven hull, Maquinna offers a comfortable and responsive ride while remaining straightforward to handle.

Over the past several years, the current owners have continuously upgraded major onboard systems with reliability and self-sufficiency in mind. Between 2022 and 2026 she has received a new transmission, upgraded electrical system, new battery bank, solar array, refrigeration conversion, sanitation system, running rigging, bottom paint, anchor system, galley equipment, and numerous additional improvements.

Her thoughtful deck layout, control lines led aft, Raymarine autopilot, and Andersen self-tailing winches make her well suited to short-handed cruising.

Originally intending to sail her back to Canada’s East Coast, the owners’ plans have since changed, and Maquinna is now being offered for sale. This presents an opportunity to purchase a proven offshore yacht with many of the major cruising upgrades already completed.
