1.  Description

1981 Downeaster 38’ Cutter – “Mar Y Sol”

Mar Y Sol is a classic, US Coast Guard documented 38-foot cutter , designed by Henry Morschladt and built by Downeaster Yachts in Santa Ana, CaliforniaThis vessel features a full keel and a keel-mounted rudder, providing the stability and tracking desired for offshore cruising. With a freshly antifouled hull and a recent polish in 2025, she is in prime condition for her next owner.

  • Battery System: All new AGM batteries in 2016 , including a 400 ah house bank and 100 ah engine battery 

  • Electronics: Comprehensive Raymarine suite including Chart plotter, GPS, Autopilot, and Log 

  • Communication: AIS (send and receive) and two radios 

  • Water Maker: Katadyn PowerSurvivor-35 producing 132 liters per day 

Accommodations & Galley

  • Living Space: Head height of 6’4″ in the saloon and 6’2″ in the master cabin 

  • Berths: Accommodates 6 people across the main bow cabin, saloon (double and single), and an aft single berth 

  • Galley: Features 12V/shore power refrigeration , a freezer , and a toaster oven 

  • Climate: Portable window-mount air conditioning 

  • Head: One manual head with freshwater and saltwater flush options 

Ground Tackle & Accessories

  • Primary Anchor: Vulcan with 250 feet of new 5/16 G40 chain 

  • Secondary Anchors: Delta spare and a Bruce stern anchor 

  • Windlass: Rebuilt in 2016 

  • Tender: 8-foot AB tender with fold-down wheels and a 5.5 HP Tohatsu outboard 

  • Additional Gear: Stern-mounted davits , propane BBQ , and a dive air compressor with regulators
