Georgia B. is a beautifully maintained example (Hull #137) of the classic HK 42F center cockpit cruising sloop. Designed by the legendary German Frers and built by Hallberg-Rassy at their renowned yard in Ellös, Sweden. She was built and certified to Germanischer Lloyd ‘A Ocean’ specifications, ensuring she is fully designed and constructed for offshore sailing in all weather conditions.

The hull is a robust GRP construction featuring insulation above the waterline, classic teak decks, and the highly desirable Hallberg-Rassy hard dodger with a safety glass windshield. Her configuration consists of a modified fin keel with 4.6 tons of lead ballast and a 2-meter draft. For ease of handling, the rig is equipped with Selden spars, hydraulic furling for both the mast and forestay, and electric primary and secondary Lewmar winches. She also features a stowable inner forestay for a hanked-on staysail or storm jib, while a custom stern arch holds four 80-watt solar panels.

Below decks, the mahogany interior displays the exceptional craftsmanship for which Hallberg-Rassy is so well regarded. The classic layout offers an owner’s aft en-suite stateroom, a forward guest en-suite stateroom, and a central salon with a large double settee and a drop-leaf center table. The backrest of the starboard settee can be raised to reveal  a comfortable sea berth, contributing to a total of seven sleeping berths, all of which include lee cloths. Both heads are equipped with showers, large-capacity china wash basins, and easily repaired Jabsco manual pump toilets. Crew comfort is further enhanced by a large-capacity (135 liter/hr) water maker and a generous electric water heater.

The storage capacity on the HR42F is remarkably generous and well-organized. The vessel features 4 sail bins, 3 hanging lockers, 7 louvered-door drawer or shelf sets, and 22 louvered-door lockers. Additionally, there is full-length shelved stowage behind the port settee, deep stowage for paper charts beneath a large chart table, and large sliding-panel shelved stowage in the galley. The interior is rounded out with 6 stowage lockers in the heads, 9 special-purpose and access lockers, and 4 deep bookshelves.

For auxiliary power, Georgia B. relies on a Volvo 76hp TMD22 turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine with approximately 3,500 hours, located in an easily accessible engine compartment. Propulsion is provided by a foldable two-speed Gori prop, and sitting alongside the engine is a newly installed Panda Mini 8-kw 110-volt generator with less than 10 hours of use.

The electronics suite is built on a SeaTalk Ng backbone and includes three Raymarine chart plotters, three multi-instrument monitors, two autopilot monitors, a digital color radar scanner, and AIS. Communications are handled via a Standard Horizon VHF with a Bluetooth mobile handheld and an ICOM SSB with a Pactor PTC-II modem.

The comprehensive sail inventory consists of a new UK Sails mainsail, a 137 Yankee-cut Genoa, a 110 working jib, an inner forestay jib, a storm jib, a storm trysail, and an asymmetrical spinnaker, along with an emergency 25% reduced-area mainsail. For the yacht’s tender, she carries a davit-mounted 10-ft hard sailing dinghy with excellent rowing capabilities and a Yamaha 2.5 hp 4-stroke outboard.

Ultimately, Georgia B. is a respectably fast cruiser with CE ‘A Ocean’ certification—a comfortable and incredibly capable yacht ready for all oceans and all weather.
